What is Check-In?

Check-In is a function that allows you to record a short voice message, via your SoloProtect lone worker device or mobile app, providing contextual information about your location and activity.

What information should be included in a Check-In message?

  1. Full name
  2. Current location (including postcode and/or what3words reference)
  3. Details of your current activity
  4. The expected duration of your activity
  5. Any perceived risks.

When should a Check-In be recorded?

Check-In messages should be recorded throughout the day as part of your dynamic risk assessments.

Examples include:

  • The start of each working day
  • When changing location
  • When entering a new lone working situation or starting a new activity
  • The end of the working day.

Where are Check-In messages stored?

Check-In messages are stored securely within SoloProtect’s BS8484- accredited Monitoring Centre and are only accessed by highly trained alarm Operators in the event of an emergency.

Why is Check-In important?

In the event of an emergency (e.g. a Red Alert or Incapacitation Alert*), the recorded message is accessed by a SoloProtect Monitoring Centre Operator.

This information is used in conjunction with geolocation data from your device, to help build a picture of your whereabouts and the type of risks you might be facing.

The Monitoring Centre Operator can then facilitate a quicker and more informed response. In a genuine emergency, this can be the difference between life and death.
